The Board of Trustees of the Huron Public Library is accepting applications for an open Board position. Service on the Board of Trustees is voluntary and without compensation.
Job descriptions and application forms can be obtained at the circulation desk of the Huron Public Library. Completed applications are due at the library by August 6, 2010.
The Board of Trustees is composed of seven members residing in the Huron City School district. The Board currently meets on the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. The duties of the Board include determining the annual budget of the library, establishing library policy, advocating for the library in the community, planning for the future of the library, and securing funds needed to operate the library. The Trustees take an oath to perform their duties as defined by the Ohio Revised Code.
Candidates must have a strong interest in the welfare of the library and a belief in intellectual freedom. They must have the time and energy to devote to the library. All candidates must be at least eighteen years of age. Trustees are chosen to represent the diversity of the community including a balance of experience and/or skills in a variety of fields.

Huron Public Library Board Meetings
Board meetings are held once each month, the second Thursday of each month at 7PM (as set by the Board), in the Board Room of the Huron Public Library, unless otherwise noted.
An annual meeting, which shall be for the purpose of the election of officers, is held at the time of the regular meeting in January of each year.
Public Participation at Board Meetings
In compliance with Section 121.22(F) of the Ohio Revised Code, meetings of the Board of Trustees shall be open to the public. Minutes of such meetings shall be available for public inspection. Notice of such meetings shall be kept posted within the Library. Notice of special or extraordinary meetings shall be given to the media in advance. At all times patron’s registration records and the personnel files shall remain confidential in compliance with State and Federal laws. The Board reserves the right to hold executive sessions in accordance with Section 121.22(G) of the Revised Code.
