Preschool-age children (ages 3 ½ - 5) are invited to participate in songs, stories, and fun learning activities this summer. Children keep a reading record of the books read from Wednesday, May 30 through Friday, July 13. For each book read, fill out an entry ticket and drop it in the BIG preschool can located behind the Children’s Desk. The more tickets, the more chances to win the GRAND prize. Read and go to the Circulation Desk to record 10 books, and receive an invitation to our Preschool Party on Friday, July 20 at 11 am featuring “The Spoon Man,” Jim Cruise. Lunch, prizes, and awards will be given afterwards.

Group 2: 3:30 - 4:15 pm (space available)
Each session will begin with stories and songs, and finish with a fun music-themed activity or craft.

Teens are encouraged to participate in the summer reading program in a number of different ways. Read anything- books, magazines, newspapers, graphic novels. When you’re finished, write your information in the binder located in the Teen Area, and fill out a ticket. Put the ticket in the can representing the prize you want to win. On the table will be entry tickets, prize cans, fun contests and brain teasers, and program information. Every time you read, fill out an entry ticket and drop it in a can. The more you read, the more entries you have, the better your chances to win! The last day to enter is Friday, July 20. Prize winners will be announced Monday, July 23. Recent high school graduates can choose to register as a Teen or an Adult.
Adults are encouraged to read books and attend programs to earn chances for grand prize drawings. Each book read, and each program attended, earns one ticket to place in the prize can of your choice! Examples of prizes are gift cards, prize baskets, and other items donated by area merchants. Please stop at the Adult Desk to pick up your reading record, to record your reading, and claim your reading prize tickets. Those readers who reach the goal of 4 books will win a free book from the selection at the Adult Desk. The last day to record your books is Friday, July 20 by 5 pm with prize winners notified on Monday, July 23. Trivia games and brain teasers will be held throughout the program with prizes for winning entries.
Adults can check the events calendar on the website to register for individual programs, or register here to participate in prize reading beginning June 5.
