Mary Helen Kay
Children’s Computer Center

The Library offers four Early Literacy Stations thanks to a generous donation in memory of life-long library supporter and community leader Mary Helen Kay. Ms. Kay served as Principal of Firelands Montessori Academy (Montessori Child Enrichment Center) and as President of the Friends of the Huron Public Library. A bronze plaque commemorating the center was generously donated by Meadow Greene Memorial Park. We are humbled by the donations and thankful for the ability to extend our services to children in the community.

A fun way to build early literacy skills, the Early Literacy Stations are designed to engage young learners in educational play. Each station is designed to optimize educational effectiveness while making learning exciting.

Content is multi-media and educational, and it has all been evaluated by early childhood specialists, educators and family focus groups using the latest developmental tools. Over 50 software titles are loaded on each ELS.

Each computer is also equipped with two sets of headphones so parents or siblings can play along. The stations are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Sessions last for 30 minutes.
