We held a book sale in June on the Library main floor. Even though it was a last minute decision, Nancy Smith did an amazing job leading the effort and gathering a large number of volunteers to help set up, sell, and then break down the sale. We want to thank Nan and the many volunteers who gave their time to help and we look forward to working with them again in the future.
Our next book sale will take place on December 6, 7, and 8, during Huron’s Winterfest. Check back here or keep an eye on the digital displays in the Library for updates to this schedule. Both the dates and the location for the book sale still need to be confirmed as the newsletter goes to print.
In July, our Book Nook was dedicated to the Friends’ immediate past president, Barbara Wilson, with great appreciation for her efforts in establishing a permanent location for a book sale. Additionally, we’re now using the book bike indoors for occasional “Pop Up” sales. In September, we are planning to highlight books for young adults. In October, we’ll promote hobbies, crafts, and cookbooks. Military books will be offered in November as we remember our veterans.
Thank you for your continued support and for your book donations. As a result of our sales, we helped to sponsor the Library’s Summer Reading Program, and we are looking forward to helping with some new technology and equipment requests in the near future. Our mission is to support our Library, and your efforts are critical to our continuing success. Enjoy the fall and upcoming holidays and remember that books make great gifts!
Friends of the Huron Public Library Board Meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 3 pm.

The Friends of the Huron Public Library, Inc., a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, is a group of dedicated volunteers who help raise thousands of dollars each year to support the Library.
The Friends raise funds primarily through tax-exempt membership, sponsorships, income from our Book Nook, and other special events.
